Birthday in Monterrey

It is 6 am and Celine is getting ready with the last make-up here in the dark while we are waiting on the Uber to get us to the airport. We are going back to Monterrey, to spend a weekend with some of the people we meet doing our 3 weeks in Monterrey and to celebrate the birthday of Shanel.

The car is full. I’m sitting in the back on the way from the airport in Monterrey and to the home of Shanel. While I’m looking out of the window while we are passing though Monterrey do I get the filing of being home, a filing of knowing the city, or at least a part of it, and then being together with friends.

To be in the nature and in the city

The Mountains are surrounding Monterrey, Shanel is living in the area of Monterrey called San Pedro. As we are getting closer to her house is the mountings getting closer as well. Her house is literally just in front of the mountains so you have the filing of being in the peace full nature, but still close to everything. From the rooftop terrace is it possible to have a beautiful view over Monterrey, but before we are going to her house does Shanel wants to show us the national park just on the other side of the mountains.

There is music in the car and the Road-trip has just started with the view of the Mother Nature. The water is spraying up on the windows, when we are crossing a small creek. There is no other cars on the road when we are passing by a sign saying Buenos Aires. For a while am I thinking on my fellow classmates who are having their exchange in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

After nearly 20 minutes drive in the national park, are we turning at a corner and in front of us can we see a big wall, which is about 30 meters high. We have arrived to a hydroelectric power plant, but this summer is there no water so we can walk right through it where we can get on the other side of the power plant to the view of the mountains.

The morning sun

The sun is falling on the tops of the mountains, it is Sunday morning and I have only had around 4 hours sleep, after been celebrating Shanel. I’m sitting here at the top of her house and relaxing while I’m looking over Monterrey and seing the sun at the mountains only 80 meters from me.

We have celebrated Shanel for two days, first Friday evening where she was the host of a house/street party at her house and Saturday a lounge party at Casa Morelos in the center of Monterrey and later we where at the club Strana. While I’m sitting in my own thoughts is Nina coming, we have made an appointment with Alexander to meet him at his place. Alexander is living in another part of San Petro, on one of the mountains in a quiet area with a beautiful view over Monterrey.

When Nina and I are standing in the Lobby waiting on Alexander to come down and to let us ind, are we have the filing of being a part of a Mad Men seen, cause the lobby and the style does fit this. The filing of this is only being confirmed when we are entering his apartment. From his bet can he lay down and have a view over the pool. From the living room is there a panorama view over Monterrey. I can only say, that if I should study as Alexander in Monterrey, would I really like to live where he is living.

The temperatures have dropped since the last time I where here, so now is it only around 34 degrees doing the day and between 25-30 degrees at night. As good as this weekend started, as good is it finishing with a small pool relax party and barbecue at ViasTec, before we are going to the airport to have the pleaser of waiting two hours more for our flight delayed flight.
