Are you with me?

The bottles of vodka and tequilas are getting packed while I’m standing next to the bus at the campus of Tec de Monterrey in the south part of Mexico City. This weekend is already starting Wednesday evening, when we are taking take-off for a weekend at Playa Mayto, Jalisco Mexico at the Pacific Ocean. When we are entering the bus are we making a bet about how long time it will take, because nobody can give an exact time. The first is saying 15 hours and the next 16 when one just in front of me is yelling 22 hours! Everybody is looking at each other with the face that is saying, “he must be crazy”, so the most commend guesses are between 16 -17.5 hour. With a long trip ahead of us is the music starting to play in the bus, and the party can slowly begin. The first song that is coming out of the speakers is “are you with me?” which is one of the biggest hits here in Mexico right which is a remix by the Belgian DJ Lost Frequencies:

“I wanna dance by water ‘neath the Mexican sky

Drink some Margaritas by a string of blue lights

Listen to the Mariachi play at midnight

Are you with me

are you with me?”

The silence

When I wake up in my seat next to the window do I understand why I wanted to go on this trip. It was not to get drunk on a beach but to se whales, get to the Hiding beach, see the Mexican Nature and the most important reason, to meet with the people I was with in Monterrey in those tree weeks I was there.

The sun is slowly coming out from its hiding position behind the mountains and there is a silence in the bus, because all the others are sleeping. A silence of being somewhere you do not really know exactly where is, but you are on the road in the mountains with your friends. When I was working at Ravage in Copenhagen a guest one day asked me what the most important in life was for me? – And I answered having a good time and being with friends. – He laughed loud and turned around with his heard to show who he was with this summer night in the beginning of June. He was with is friends, at a cosy restaurant and having a good time! – at this movement can I only say the same.

The Hiding Beach

In Mexico City is the sun not that warm as I’ve been use to from Monterrey, so when we are getting out of the bus the temperature has already reach 35 degress. Some find it really hot, others are just felling that they are coming back to normal. We are about to change to bathing suits because now has the time been coming for the thing I’ve been looking forward to. We are going to the Hiding Beach.

The noise from the motor and waves we are passing, to a view over the see with the mountains in the background, makes me fill relaxed even though that our guide on the boat just have told us that it is not wale season so we will not be seeing them, – a thing I really had been looking forward to. After nearly 30 min. of sailing can we see a small cave with a lot of boats around. I nearly can’t see the entry because of heads in the water.

I have to follow the waves so I can coordinate the entrance to the cave. And what is on the other side of this entrance is really beautiful. It is a hiding beach we are coming to cause what I can see above me is just a hold up to the skies. It is a beach you would not find if you did not know it!

A reunion

To see the water in the horizon is like a realise for all of us, finally do we only need the last males on our trip, but as always is it the one that are going to take longest. After an hour on the sand road are we there, after 22 hours in bus from Mexico City and nearly 1000 km can we get a swim in the Pacific Ocean!

We are the first bus at the beach before we are going to meet with Louise and Mads who are coming from Guadalajara and first the day after is our friends from Monterrey coming. So the party is starting without them, but the next day when they are arriving the wipe around us is just getting better.

After tree days at the beach bathing and partying and meeting a lot of good people and seeing a turtle release is it now time to get back to reality and back to Mexico City.

On the way back I am asking my self if this trip was worth it. I think I never really can find the answer cause I meet a lot of good people, but at the same time I nearly just 40 hours in a bus for having tree days of fun might be a lot. Maybe the question more should be “are you with me?”. This time I was.
