Hiding Oasis

It is seven o’clock in the morning Mads and I have only got around 1,5 hours sleep, since we spend Friday evening at the rooftop bar at Hotel Habita which also has a pool, from where there is a good view over Monterrey. Later that evening did we go to Gomez, which is a bar in San Pedro where you can buy a shot of Mazcal and a beer for only 65 pesos.

We are going to be picked up by Cesar also known as “Big C”, who has invited us on this tour to Parque La Estanzuela from where we are going to hike and swim in waterfalls. We are starting early with him, Franziska and Pablo so we can be getting to the waterfalls before it is getting to warm and it is getting full of people.

It is just as we want it when we are starting our hike, the light is falling soft and light on the mountains and there is a silence so we can hear the nature speak to us. The only noise we can hear is our own footsteps. The road is easy to see and easy to follow even though it is a bit steep in the beginning. The sound of water his getting more and more intense and after nearly 30 minutes walk, can first waterfall be seen. You can see the Christmas light in all our eyes, especial Cesars. He his fast to get his t-shirt of and jumping into the water and shouting of us to get into the water. He do not have to wait on an answer before all of us is in the could but fresh water.

We are the first ones who are going swimming here this morning, and the peace and the fresh water is wonderful. After some time, do we continue following the river up hill. A little bit further up is another waterfall from where you can spring with your headfirst. It is like the best playground for kids.

The last stop on your tour is a bit difficult to get to, because we have to clime a few meters on a very steep rock, but the result is not to forget. It nearly looks like a small cave with a small lake from where the water is falling down more than 5 meters.

We aren’t even at the top of the mountains but the view is good from the oasis. When we are heading back to the car, are we meeting a lot of families with kids. There is a lot of noise, for which reason Cesar wanted to be coming hear so early so we could enjoy mother nature as much as we did.
